This is a specimen of natural crystals of a rare chlorophosphate mineral called pyromorphite. The specimen was found in the Daoping Mine in Yangshuo, Guangxi, China
I am a professor of geology at Guilford Technical Community College, Jamestown, North Carolina. I have a Masters in Liberal Studies at UNCG. I did graduate study in geology at Miami University (of Ohio) and Mississippi State. I got my BA in geology at Guilford College, and two BA's from Pfeiffer University, one in philosophy and the other in religious studies. I am first and foremost a mystic and esotericist. I have nothing to do with the occult, which I condemn along with a lot of New Age and pseudo-spiritual mumbo-jumbo that gives mystics a bad name. I am also a mineral hobbyist from childhood, and my brother Laurie now has taken over our formerly joint operation called The Adams Collection, which sells natural minerals and crystals. Laurie's website theadamscollection.com started late in 2007. I am the oldest of four children, Laurie next, then my brother Kevin, who is a well-known naturalist and photographer. His many books includes North Carolina Waterfalls (he is the leading authority on North Carolina waterfalls - see under books). And then I have a sister Alecia, a talented singer living in Connecticut. She has done several roles in opera and musicals and many recitals.
